Awards and Scholarships
Each year the Ahtahkakohp School is proud to be able to recognize and acknowledge the hard work and dedication of those individuals who have grown, overcome obstacles, and applied themselves to achieve their grade 12 diploma with honors. Below is a highlight of each award and its significance.
Chief Ahtahkakoop
($500.00 & Plaque) ~ Awarded to a graduating Grade 12 student with the highest overall academic average in their grade twelve year. The marks that will be used include: English Language Arts A30, English Language Arts B30, Native Studies 30, and two of the student’s highest marks.
Canon Edward Ahenakew Scholarship
($500.00 & Plaque) ~ Awarded to a graduating Grade 12 student with the highest combined average in a 30-level mathematics course (Workplace & Apprenticeship 30/Math Foundations 30, Pre-calculus 30, Calculus 30) and a 30-level science (Biology 30/Chemistry 30/Physics 30). The highest mark from the above-mentioned math and science classes will used to calculate the average. *Note: if the student does not have both classes they do not qualify.
Chief Lancelot Ahenakew Scholarship
($500.00 & Plaque) ~ Awarded to a Grade 12 graduating student with the highest combined average in Native Studies 30 and Cree 30. *Note: if the student does not have both classes they do not qualify.
Chief Allan Ahenakew Scholarship
($500.00 & Plaque) ~ Awarded to a Grade 12 graduating student who exemplifies leadership qualities and is a good role model for others. This scholarship recipient is chosen by the Division IV teachers of Ahtahkakoop School.
Chief Fred Sasakamoose Scholarship
($500.00 & Plaque) ~ Awarded to the student who embodies athleticism and is a good role model in and out of the school. This recipient must also have a Physical Education 20 and/or 30 credit by the end of the school year.
Ahkameyimo Award
($500.00 & Plaque) ~ The recipient of this scholarship is chosen collectively by the Division IV teachers, administration, and guidance counsellor. The student is chosen based on their perseverance and determination. This student must also be a good role model.
Ahcahk Award
($500.00 & Plaque) ~ The recipient of this scholarship is chosen collectively by the Division IV Teachers, administration, and guidance counsellor. The student is chosen based on their spirit. This student must also be a good role model.

Every student registered in the Regular Grade 12 Program will have the opportunity to win the Chief Ahtahkakoop, Canon Edward Ahenakew, Chief Lancelot Ahenakew, Chief Allan Ahenakew and Chief Fred Sasakamoose scholarships.

Every student qualifies for the awards which are the Ahkameyimo and Ahcahk Awards.In the event of a tie, the scholarship or award will be split in half and both students will receive a plaque.

If no student qualifies for a scholarship the division four teachers will meet and decide on an appropriate recipient.
